Cookie Policy
This page explains what cookies and similar storage we use on ensohr.co.uk, what each one does, and how to turn them off. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we do with personal information.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. The next time you visit, the site can read that file back. Cookies are how a website remembers things: that you have already dismissed a banner, for example, or that you are the same visitor who arrived twenty minutes ago rather than a brand new one.
Some cookies are set by us. Others are set by the companies whose tools we use, such as Google and Microsoft, and those are usually called third party cookies. Websites also use similar technologies, including local storage, which works much like a cookie but stays in your browser rather than being sent back to a server with every page request.
Nothing loads until you say so
When you first arrive, the only thing we store on your device is the record of the choice you make on our cookie banner. No analytics cookies, no session recording and no third party tracking of any kind runs until you press Accept.
If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, the site works exactly as it should. You are not nagged, and nothing is hidden behind consent.

A word about session recording
Microsoft Clarity does more than count visits. If you accept analytics, it records mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and other interactions with the page, and turns them into a replay of the visit along with heatmaps showing where people click and how far they read. We use it to find the parts of the site that are confusing or awkward, and it is genuinely useful for a small site with no budget for user testing.
The replays are not linked to your name, and Clarity's default settings mask what is typed into form fields. If you would rather not be recorded, decline analytics on the banner or withdraw your consent later, and Clarity will not load at all.
Other things the site loads
The site uses the Nunito typeface, which is served by Google Fonts. Delivering a font to your browser involves Google processing your IP address, but it does not set a cookie on your device.
Our contact form is protected by a hidden honeypot field and a simple arithmetic question rather than a third party CAPTCHA. Nothing about that check is sent to Google or any other outside service.
Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, browser types and pages visited. Those are not cookies and are not set by us, but they are described in our Privacy Policy so you have the full picture.
Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change your mind whenever you like, and it takes a moment.
- Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page on this site. It brings the banner back so you can accept or decline again. Declining stops the analytics tools loading from that point on.
- Clearing your browser's cookies and site data for ensohr.co.uk also erases your saved choice, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.
- Cookies already set by Google or Microsoft before you withdrew consent can be removed through your browser, using the steps below.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block them in future. The wording differs a little, but the route is much the same.
- Google Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third party cookies and Delete browsing data.
- Safari: Settings or Preferences, then Privacy, where you can block cookies and use Manage Website Data. On an iPhone or iPad, look under Settings, then Apps, then Safari.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, where you will find Enhanced Tracking Protection and Cookies and Site Data.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when you close it. Do bear in mind that blocking cookies across the board can stop other websites working properly, even though it will not break ours.
